about

My husband gave me this website, along with the logo commissioned by a local artist, as a very thoughtful and unexpected birthday present a couple years ago. I wanted a place to keep all of the before and after project photos I had taken over the years, and have often thought of hiring myself out for design work or small projects. For now, this website is a place to store my photos and stories about the projects I’ve done or plan to do. The hope for the future is that once I’ve finished all of my own major projects, I can work on projects for friends and family and eventually open up a small design business on the side of my day job if all goes well. So I don’t currently have any products for sale or design work for hire, but in the meantime I am enjoying using this site as a place to display my projects and as a different kind of design project in itself.

Kevin

Having grown up in Barnhartvale, the heart of BC's ranch-land, nestled between forests and looming mountains, Kevin has an inescapable appreciation for the natural world and its natural beauty. While he is currently working in fisheries, making use of his biology degree from the University of Victoria, his true passion lies in getting his hands dirty and creating beauty through the natural resources inspired by the landscape just outside his doorstep.

Whether building an arbor in his garden to let his hops rhizomes flourish, digging a trench to accommodate for a vintage bathtub to host a set of charming Welsh Harlequin ducks or building interior furniture for his family home inspired by the "golden" spiral, he can undoubtedly be found spending whatever spare time he has deep into another personal project. Through meticulous, hand-drawn blueprinting and resourceful and limited-waste material sourcing, Kevin's DIY projects are filled with a charming warmth, while never sacrificing contemporary design and efficiency.

My husband moved to Canada from the UK to be nearer his twin sister and appreciates the balance of our rural life as much as I do. We met shortly after he arrived, and married shortly after we met (2 years is pretty short, right?). We joke about how nice it is that the Venn diagram of our aesthetic tastes in home and garden stuff would be almost entirely overlapping. He is incredibly supportive of my ideas and time, and always has great ideas on how to improve or simplify my designs. He also keeps me alive with food, water, and rest reminders when I get into project mode.

our girl

We have the most wonderful kid in the world who you might see in some of the pictures throughout this website. She has become the inspiration for so many designs and has elevated my desire to be creative in all of my work. She is too young to fully understand the choice of putting photos of herself online or social media, so for now we do not share identifying photos.

rufus & leon

We have 2 dogs that are functionally useless on the farm, besides their ability to provide snuggles in the house where none of the other animals are allowed (with the occasional exception of the pigs). Leon is a cross between a wire-haired Jack Russell terrier and a Scottish terrier, and Rufus is a cocker spaniel crossed with a pug.
