Vegetable garden

Growing up around some of the most productive vegetable gardens I've ever known, I was overly excited to finally have my own garden that I could use to teach myself how to grow food. I learned how to grow and kill so many vegetable plants and the space became my favorite place in the world to be.

Every year I wanted to add more space to this vegetable garden so it slowly grew year by year, which gave it a sort of mismatched, pieced-together sort of feeling.

Plants

Since I had never tried gardening myself before, I wanted to grow one of everything. It wasn’t a very large plot but I did manage to produce at least one of all the vegetables I grew up with. Some years were better than others and I always found it a bit frustrating that I had to wait a whole year to retry something I had learned.

A friend provided me hops plants and 2 large 4x4 posts to grow them on in return for providing hops to brew beer. The archway was designed so that the plants could grow up twine that was replaced annually and the entire plant and twine frame could be cut off in one large sheet for harvest.
